Alisha Glass and Joe Baker linked up with the company in September last year after studying at Gateshead College and Hartlepool College of FE respectively when they left school.
Alisha, 19, had been studying Travel & Tourism while 17-year old Joe had initially enrolled on an Engineering course.
But both opted to leave full-time education to step into the world of work, and neither have looked back.
Alisha said: “The Academy has helped us develop our skills, especially attending the workshops which helped us break the ice and learn all the relevant information needed to join the sales team which is what we are heading towards now to hopefully become Energy Consultants.”
Joe added: “We loved being a part of the UA Academy, everybody bounces off each other and there is a great atmosphere but being part of the Millionaire’s Club within the business is our future goal.”
Alisha admitted that at first, she found the job tough going but with the help and support of her colleagues – and in particular Head of Apprentices Jo Storey – she quickly found her feet and has flourished.
She went on: “If you have a good work ethic and are willing to give 100% everyday, you will succeed in the role and earn lots of money for yourself.”
Joe echoed those sentiments, adding: “We both loved being part of The Academy, doing the workshops and the support from Jo, Jordan Potter and the training team was second to none.
“I would recommend the UA Academy to anybody, if you are given an opportunity to work for Utility Alliance, grab it with both hands.”
Jo Storey said: “All of the apprentices are preforming to a very high standard every day.
“To be an apprentice in this industry, you have to be able to take criticism and want to learn which is why Alisha and Joe have done so well over the six month period.
“I am going to miss them both massively, but I know they will do me proud and be huge assets to the company in their new roles.
“The training team and Jordan Potter – who is also doing a qualification of his own – have also done amazingly well throughout this process, I really couldn’t have done it without them.”
