Utility Alliance’s Helen braves the shave to raise money for cancer charity

21 September, 2017

HELEN BOLTON, Head of Partner Channel at Utility Alliance, will be shaving her head in an effort to raise money for a charity which is very close to her heart.

Helen’s husband Peter has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer, so in a bid to raise £3,000 for the charity Myeloma UK Helen decided to do a sponsored head shave.

Multiple Myeloma is a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. Plasma cells help you fight infections by making antibodies that recognize and attack germs. Multiple Myeloma causes cancer cells to accumulate in the bone marrow, where they crowd out healthy blood cells.

All money raised by Helen’s brave effort will help fund research into fighting the disease and support those affected.

Helen set up a JustGiving page earlier this month, and is well on the way to reaching her £3,000 target, and more cash will be donated by staff at Tranquillity House as Helen braves the shave.

The shave will take place tomorrow morning in our canteen, with all of the firm’s 250-strong workforce expected to watch Helen get her new look.

Helen said: “My UA family have been fantastic in supporting my crazy idea to go bald for Myeloma, they have helped me to spread the word via social media as well as sponsoring me with their hard earned cash.”

PR & Marketing Assistant Sadie Wise added: “Helen is such an inspiration to everyone at Utility Alliance. We are extremely proud of what she is doing, and it is great to see so many staff supporting her.”

Head over to our Facebook page tomorrow just before 10am where we will be going live for those who can’t be there.

There is still time to sponsor Helen on her JustGiving page here.
